Scholarships and Grants

Oklahoma State University - School of Media and Strategic Communications (SMSC) is offering seven scholarship opportunities for fall 2012 incoming freshmen.  If students are interested in pursuing one of three degrees:  Multimedia Journalism, Sports Media or Strategic Communications (advertising and public relations), see Mrs. Stephens for an application.  Two $1,800 scholarships will be awarded to students planning to live in the Media House and five $2,000 scholarships will awarded to those pursuing one of the three degrees.  DEADLINE TO APPLY:  Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at 5:00p.m.  Electronic applications can be found at media.okstate.edu, or call Mary Daniels at 744-4121 for questions. 

Norman Cross Timbers Rotary Club will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior with a 2.5 or higher GPA and who will continue his/her academic education at an Oklahoma college, university, or technology center certification training during the 2012-2013 academic year.  The student must live in Cleveland County outside of Moore and attend either Norman High School, Norman North High School, Noble High School, Little Axe High School, Community Christian School, or be home schooled and live within the attendance boundaries of one of these schools.  Application can be found at www.crosstimbersrotary.org.  Complete applications must be postmarked or received via email no later than March 31, 2012.

Oklahoma Heritage Scholarship Competition 2012 -  Saturday, March 3, 2012 - Each year, the Oklahoma Heritage Association and Gaylord-Pickens Museum make available more than $650,000 in cash scholarships and tuition grants to high school students who have studied Oklahoma's history and heritage.  In the Oklahoma Heritage Scholarship Competition, students in grades 9 through 12 take a test on Oklahoma history at one of 15 testing sites in the state.  Students compete for scholarships in the county in which they attend school.  Those with high scores in each county receive a minimum of a $1,000 cash scholarship or tuition grant to an Oklahoma college or university.  Each of Oklahoma's 77 counties has at least six scholarships available.  Scholarships are made possible through generous donations by individuals, corporations, and Oklahoma colleges and universities.  Test is Saturday, March 3.  Students must arrive by 9:00a.m. for the 9:30a.m. examination.  Registration deadline is Wednesday, February 22, 2012.  For more information or with questions, contact Gini Moore Campbell at 523-3202 or gmc@oklahomaheritage.com. www.oklahomaheritage.com

JOHN W. & MARY D NICHOLS OKLAHOMA HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP is a $10,000 scholarship for students in grade 12 who are committed to continuing their education in Oklahoma.  For more information and application, go to www.oklahomaheritage.com.  Deadline is March.

THE OKLAHOMA COUNCIL OF PUBLIC AFFIARS (OCPA), an independent educational think tank, is pleased to announce its 13th Annual Citizenship Essay Contest offering $12,000 in tuition scholarships to five Oklahoma college-bound high school seniors.  Question:  Is the United States Constitution a "living document?"  Why or why not?  Essays should be 1,000 to 1,250 words in length and must be postmarked no later than February 27, 2012.  For more information about the contest, online submissions, as well as details from matching colleges and universities go to www.ocpathink.org

The H. W. Almen - West OKC Rotary Scholarship Fund awards approximately 20 scholarships to Oklahoma students.  The scholarship is valued at $4,000.  Applicants must be high school seniors, have a minimum 2.75 GPA, and a maximum family income of $100,000.  Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 29, 2012.  Go to www.occf.org/scholarships/almen.html for more information and application.

BUICK ACHIEVERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:  The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes students who have taken steps to give back to their community and who put forth the effort and find success both in and out of the classroom, yet are unable to attend college without financial assistance.  Eligibility:  high school seniors and current undergraduates, those who plan to enroll full time at a four-year college or univeristy in 2012-2013, and who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the autovotive industry.  Application deadline is February 29, 2012.  Visit www.buickachievers.com for more information and application.

THE 2011-2012 SQ PWP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM is now accepting applications.  $12,700 of scholarships are available to Christian Student Athletes.  Eligibility:  1.  high school sophomore, junior, or senior  2.  maintains a minimum "C" grade average or higher  3.  currently a varsity level athlete in one or more sports  and 4.  a  committed follower of Jesus Christ.  Deadline to apply is March 2, 2012.  Apply online and view a complete listing of program benefits at: www.playingwithpurpose.org.  tele:  317-270-9495.

Vancouver Restaurant Scholarship - $500 (Deadline:  May 30, 2012)  Eligibility:  1.  Between age 15 - 25, as of May 30, 2012  2.  Be a full time student in 2012 in either high school or college/university  3.  Answer the essay question found on the application page - www.cafeilnido.net.

Man Mac Automatic Scholarship - $500 (Deadline:  June 15, 2012) - Eligibility - high school senior.  Go to www.transmissionkamloops.com for an application.

Big Dig Scholarship - $3,000 (Deadline:  June 1, 2012)  Eligibility - high school senior.  Write an essay that is under 1000 words by the stated deadline.  Applications can be found at www.antiquetrader.tv.

Odenza Marketing Scholarship - $500 - (Deadline:  March 30, 2012)  Eligibility:  1.   Ages of 16 - 25 on March 30, 2012  2.  Submit answers to the essay questions, which can be found on the application page - www.odenzascholarships.com.
