EXPLORE, PLAN and PSAT Testing

EXPLORE Test is produced by the ACT Company and is an evaluation and practice test designed for students in the 8th grade.  The 2011 test is scheduled to be given, Tues, Oct. 4, 2011, at the Activity Center beginning at 8:00a.m.

PLAN Test is produced by the ACT Company and is a pre-ACT test which will evaluate a student's progress for the ACT college entrance exam.  Tenth graders will receive a score range for the ACT, as well as suggestions for ways they can improve their scores. Ninth graders will receive their scores and ways to improve in each caegory, but not a score range for the ACT.  The 2011 test is scheduled to be given Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at 8:00a.m., at the Activity Center.  CCS 9th and 10th grade are required to take the PLAN Test.

PSAT/NMSQT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which is a co-sponsored program by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).  This is a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT Reasoning Test.  It also gives you a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) scholarship programs.  The PSAT/NMSQT measures:  critical reading skills, math problem-solving skills, and writing skills.  This test will be given at the CCS Activity Center, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at 8:00a.m., to all 11th graders, and any 9th and 10th grade students who have signed up with Mrs. Stephens by Wed., Sept. 21, 2011. The cost of $15 must be paid by 9th and 10th graders signed up to take the test before the test date.  All students must bring two #2 sharpened pencils, (no mechanical pencils allowed) and a calculator.  Transportation will be provided back to CCS if needed.  Results will be sent home, usually in December.

PSAT Review Booklets - have arrived and will be distributed to all 11th graders and any 9th/10th graders signed up to take the test.  Parents may sign their students up by emailing ccsadvisor@ccsroyals.com no later than Wed., Sept 21, 1011.

PSAT 2011 Review Class - for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.  Instructors are Dr. Lynne Chesley, Verbal and David M. Askey, Math.  OU and NHS Instructors of PSAT and ACT review courses with a combined 48 years of experience preparing students.  Offering two identical math sessions and two identical verbal sessions.  Choose only one math and only one verbal review session.  All sessions are from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.  Tues., Sept. 20th - Verbal session, Wed., Sept 21st, Math session, Wed., Sept 28th, Verbal session, and Thurs., Sept 29th, Math session.  Fliers have been sent home with all 9th - 11th grade students, Thursday, Sept. 15th.  Must use registration form to register for the course.  Cost is $42 and will be held at the Norman High School Library.  Classes fill up quickly, so register early.  For further information, updates on the review, and registration confirmation, visit www.tinyurl.com/testreview or you may email daskeyemac@me.com

PSAT Review Class - Precollegiate Programs at the University of Oklahoma sponsors this effective test preparation course for PSAT/NMSQT and SAT.  By providing s sufficient amount of familiarization with the tests and administrative procedures during this course, students will feel comfortable and know what to expect on the day of their test.  This course is an excellent building block for the SAT exam.  Review course will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, 9am - 3pm on the OU Norman Campus.  Cost is $90 and includes instruction, materials, andrefreshments.  Registration deadline is Sept. 23rd.  May register online at http://youth.ou.edu or print off a registration form and mail it.
